Corby Clark
Judicial Assistant
Jason D. Scott was appointed by Governor Brad Little as the 61st justice of the Idaho Supreme Court. Justice Scott took office on November 2, 2026.
Justice Scott grew up in Pocatello, working in his parents’ ski shop on Main Street and participating in outdoor sports. After earning his undergraduate degree in accounting from Idaho State University and passing the CPA examination, Justice Scott attended law school at Duke University, earning his law degree in 1997.
He spent two years clerking in Idaho federal court for United States District Judge B. Lynn Winmill and then nearly 15 years litigating business disputes at the Idaho law firm Hawley Troxell Ennis & Hawley LLP.
In 2014, Justice Scott transitioned to the bench when Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter appointed him as a district judge of Idaho’s Fourth Judicial District. During 12 rewarding years as a district judge, Justice Scott presided over several thousand civil and felony criminal cases in Ada and Valley counties.
An avid fan of college basketball, Justice Scott counts himself lucky to have had the chance to be a “Cameron Crazy” while attending law school. These days, his primary hobby is trail running. He’s pleased to have (barely) survived his first ultramarathon a few months before joining the Idaho Supreme Court.
Justice Scott and his wife have been together for more than 30 years. They have two grown children.
