Voluntary Mediation Program

The voluntary mediation program allows parties to engage in mediation early on in their case (before they are court ordered) at a reduced cost.

  • Parents with open cases in the 7th District involving children under the age of 18.

  • When both parents are willing to engage in mediation.

  • Cases that have NOT been court ordered to mediation.

The cost is $25 per party for a 3-hour mediation session. This fee will be paid directly to the mediator after registration and assignment.

  • Once both parents have completed and sent the registration form, an email will be provided to each party (and their attorney if applicable) with the mediators contact information.

  • Parents should reach out immediately to the mediator.

  • Mediation will be provided by your assigned mediator either in-person or over zoom.

  • Once both parents have reached out to the mediator, they will schedule mediation at a time that works for everyone.

  • You can register for another session of mediation. 

    • You are not guaranteed the same mediator as they are assigned on a rotating basis.

    • Each parent will pay the $25 fee to the mediator.

  • You can hire the mediator you were assigned for additional sessions at their hourly rate.

  • The mediator will write out your agreement and email to both parents (an attorneys if applicable).

    • Mediators DO NOT file your agreement with the court.

  • Parents need to complete and file their finalization paperwork with the court.

    • Please contact the 7th District Court Assistance Officer with questions and to schedule a review of the final paperwork (optional).
