Treatment Courts
Treatment Courts are an intense rehabilitative cost-effective alternative to imprisonment.
Ada County is home to five Treatment Court programs that offer participants an opportunity for closely monitored rehabilitation, treatment, and support in the community rather than in a correctional facility. Elmore County hosts one Drug Court program.
Program participants in Ada County are also supported by the Ada County Treatment Center where they can receive counseling, educational services, and drug and alcohol testing all at one location.
Drug Court
In 1999, Ada County was the first county in Idaho to create a Drug Court program. The goals of the program include reducing substance abuse and recidivism significantly and reducing the costs associated with criminal processing, incarceration, and recidivism.
The Elmore County Drug and DUI Court provides court-supervised, comprehensive outpatient treatment program for defendants who are chemically dependent and have been unsuccessful in their recovery.
Veterans Court
Military veterans may find themselves involved in the justice system and this treatment court is designed to help reduce recidivism for veterans whose criminal charges are related to substance abuse, mental illness, or other treatable conditions.
Mental Health Court
Mental Health court strives to reduce recidivism of some severely and persistent mentally ill offenders in the criminal justice system and provide the community protection with a cost-effective, integrated continuum of care through the development and utilization of community resources.
